New Willie G. Davidson Exhibit Opens at Harley-Davidson Museum
This month, Harley-Davidson established a new exhibit at its Milwaukee museum, and it’s one worth checking out. The exhibit honors famed designer Willie G. Davidson and is called “Willie G. Davidson: Artist, Designer, Leader, Legend.” At our Manchester Harley-Davidson dealership, we’re big fans of ol’ “Willie G.,” and we’re happy to see him get the recognition he deserves!
Willie G. Davidson’s name should ring a bell if you’re in the know about Harley-Davidson. That’s because he has been a respected designer for the company for 49 years and is the current Brand Ambassador for Harley-Davidson, Inc. “Willie G.” actually created the styling and design departments at the company, rethinking motorcycles as works of art rather than simply two-wheeled means to an end. He designed the 1971 Harley-Davidson FX Super Glide, a celebrated and iconic vehicle. In addition, Willie happens to be the grandson of William A. Davidson, one of the original founders of the brand. You could say greatness runs in the family!
At the new exhibit, attendees can learn about Willie’s particular style, artistry and influences while recognizing the impact his work has had on Harley-Davidson and on the greater American motorcycle industry. Historical artifacts and unique vehicles will be on display, as will original designs, art and interactive displays. It’s a fun and enlightening experience for bike fans and history buffs alike.
The special exhibit will run from June 13 to September 7 and will be housed in the Garage special event space. We think it will be worth a trip to Wisconsin to check it out!
